i created this tag in dreamsuite bonus but wanted to recreate it using basic tools in paint shop pro so you wouldn’t be limited to one background

This is the one i made in Dreamsuite

This is the One i recreated and will be making in this tut

For this tutorial your going to need

Paint Shop Pro

My Supplies

Font i used is 911 Porscha (3rd one down)

i have added a lot of screenshots for anyone thats new to psp, you will notice alot of the words are underlined they are linked to the screenshots for you i hope this helps )

ok lets get started:o)

Open the template and the frame tubes in psp, minimize your template we will come back to that in a minute

go to your frame tube and make sure your on the frame layer, if your layer palette isn’t showing go to a empty space on the top taskbar and right click, a box will appear.. click on layer palette

now grab your magic wand with these settings see pic below

Now we want to start clicking inside of all the frames while holding down the shift key (being carefull not to select the frame itself) until it looks something like this see pic below

Now go up to Selections and scroll down to modify then across to expand and click.. another box will appear put 2 in the box , now add a new raster layer

minimize your frames and go to your template, press your shift key and the letter D on your keyboard which will give you another copy of your template…close the original

make sure the watermark layer is highlighted on your layer palette, right click on the watermark layer on your layer palette and another box will appear click on delete

now go up to edit on your taskbar and scroll down to copy and click

go back to your frames, right click inside the frames and click on paste into selection or go up to edit scroll down to paste then across to into selection now deslect your fames

we want to move this layer down one so it sits under your frame layer

make sure your on layer 2 then go up to effects and scroll down to enhance photo then across to Automatic Contrast Enhancement with these settings

now click on the glasses on your background layer then highlight your frame layer on the layer palette and right click on it and merge visible

now add a drop shadow with these settings or your preferred settings(effects scroll down to 3d effects then across to dropshadow)

i selected inside of all the frames with my lasso tool and used automatic saturation enhancement with settings of Bias normal and strength weak to make it a bit more colourfull as the dropshadow dulls it a bit but its totally optional )

now un x out your background layer so its showing

add a new layer for your text with these settings

apply a dropshadow with these settings

now Deselect your text. you can now merge your layers visible at this point or add the pink strip i supplied by going up to edit then scroll down to copy and click… then go to your template and right click inside it and click paste as a new layer and move it down under your text then mergle visible and save your tag as a jpeg file

now sit back and admire your new tag

a favorite poem, saying or psp brush

This tut is fairly easy and very quick honest

ok lets get started )

open your tube or the one i supplied in psp, you might want to resize mine a fair bit as it’s quite large

go up to layers on the top taskbar and click on new raster layer then floodfill your layer with white, then go back up to layers and click on arrange then across to send to bottom,

make sure your tube layer is highlighted before we apply the dropshadow etheir using my settings or your own…effects- -3d effect then across to dropshadow, the settings i used are

i added a short poem, my name and a border of 5 the colour i used was #FDD2DB, now you need to promote this layer for the gif-x plugin to work…….layers…promote to layer

now we can apply the plugin …effects ..plugins…ulead effects..GIF-X 2.0 , click on open book and use the factory settings or you can playaround with the settings until you get something you like

once your happy click on save then name your signature and voila you are done )

a wee tip: you might want to take it into animation shop to cut off some of the extra space around it but be careful you dont take the tops of the moving pages,

Soul Searching

if your new to paint shop pro this Screen Shot of the tools will come in handy ..just right click on it and save to your own hard drive

i did use dreamsuite on this tag but i do understand its a pay filter and not everyone has it thats why i supplied the template with the frame )

ok are we ready to get started )

first of all start up your psp and blow those cobwebs off (as if) lol

open the soul searching psp file i supplied and add a new layer, ie go to layers on the top taskbar and scroll down to new raster layer and click .. a box will appear click ok at the bottom rename this layer background layer

send this layer to the bottom. ie..click on layers again scroll down to arrange then across to send to bottom and click

now make sure you have the samengevoegd layer selected then go up to the taskbar and select your lasso tool with these settings..see pic below:

take your lasso tool and select the inside of the main picture being carefull you don’t select any of the frame..see pic below:

once you have it all selected go up to edit on the top taskbar scroll down to copy and click.. then go back up to edit again and scroll down to copy.. then back up to edit again and scroll down to paste then across to As New Image and click… or select the arrow on top taskbar then right click on your image and a box will appear click on Paste As New Image

go up to image on top taskbar and scroll down to rotate and click use these settings :see pic below

now cut of the excess space so you can just see the image, once you have done that go up to edit scroll down and click on copy, now minimize this image and go to your soul searching image, if you still have the image selected go up to selections on top task bar and scroll down to select none and click

now make sure your background layer is highlighted then go up to selections on top taskbar and scroll down and click on select all then right click on your soul searching image then click paste into selection, go back up to selections and click on select none

we are more than half way through if you want to take a break grab yourself a coffee and a chocolate biscuit infact grab one for me too )

ok we ready to start again ..here goes

add a new raster layer and bring it to the top..ie layers, arrange and across to bring to top

now grab your selection tool on the taskbar with these settings:see pic below

now you want to select the right hand side of the image makeing sure you select right to the top and bottom se you don’t have the background layer showing underneath see pic below

now grab your floodfill and fill it with black or any colour you would like, now go up to selections on taskbar and scroll down to select none and click

add a new raster layer and grab your text tool and write a poem or a short saying in white text, i used the signature font size 10 if you don’t have this font theres some nice script fonts here

once you have done your saying or poem go up to image on taskbar and scroll down to rotate and click with these settings see pic below

now place your saying or poem on the black strip you done and lower your opacity level down i lowered mine too 63 but its whatever you prefer,(see pic here where you see the red arrows pointing to you will see a little triangle pointing down the way and one pointing up the way you move these to lower the opacity level) i then duplicated this poem layer and put it near the edge of the right hand side see pic here

i also put some lines of text across the man picture too and lowered the opacity to 63 see main pic here

ok we are nearly done phewwwwww lol just to add the text now )

Add a new raster layer and grab your text tool make sure your fill colour is at white and your stroke at null, i used the font Bank Gothic i supplied it or you can use your own… these are the settings i used: see settings below you may have to adjust the size of text depending on how long your name is

your text should be floating now go up to images on taskbar and scroll down to rotate and click use these settings :see pic below

you want to place your name in the main picture frame at the left hand side see pic here i lowered the opacity level on my name to 28

now add a new raster layer and grab your text tool again only this time make sure your fill colour is black and stroke is null, select the Kashmir font i supllied or use your own favourite font these are the settings i used once again you may have to adjust the settings for text depending on how long your name is

keep your name selected and go up to effects on the taskbar and scroll down to 3d effects then across to inner bevel see pic below for settings

now deselct your name by going to selections on taskbar and clicking on select none now place your name where you would like it to be

go back up to effects on taskbar scroll down to 3d effects and across to dropshadow heres the settings i used (you could redo the dropshadow effects a few times for a different effect)

now merge all your layers and your done )

lyrics or a favourite poem

this is my first attempt at writing a blend tut, i hope you enjoy doing it as much as i did at creating it ) ok lets get started

open up the pictures i supplied in psp minimize the picture named ring for now we will come back to it later, we will be working with the picture named ana11

resize your ana picture by 65% or a size you feel most comfortable with, add a new layer, now go up to your toolbar and grab your selection tool with these settings see pic below

i selected from one side of the picture to the other making sure her eyes and nose was inside the selection, see pic below

now floodfill your selection with the colour white and select none, lower the opacity level to 37 or to whichever you prefer, in my picture i added another layer and selected the top half of her head and filled with white and lowered the opacity level away down so its just slight, you can merge visible at this point or leave it until we are finished,

make sure your on the bottom layer if you haven’t merged and grab your selection tool again with the same settings as before

select a little rectangle at the left hand side of your picture, see my main picture for reference, (please make sure you have it where you want it because when you promote the layer it takes the background with it.. so its not advisable to move it around after you have done it)

once you have selected your rectangle go to effects..texture effects and across to blinds with these settings or your own:o)

go up to selections and scroll down to promote layer and click then click on select none, repeat these steps again for your second rectangle but make sure your on the background layer as it won’t work

Add a new Layer for your text, choose Bittersweet font and only put your first initial of your name in size 48 apply a dropshadow of your choice then add another layer and this time choose signature font and type in the rest of your name making sure your first initial is not there i used quite a small size so it would fit in the top. left hand side of the picture and apply a dopshadow, rearrange your name so its sitting ok )

add a new layer and put in some lyrics or a favourite poem i used the font signature here again using small lettering, when you have done that i lowered my opacity level down to 48 then i rotated my text by 90 degrees and placed it on the side of her face

now grab the ring pic i supplied and copy and paste it on to your main picture, i duplicated this layer twice and placed them to the right side of the picture, see my main pic for reference, i added my initials to the bottom left hand side of the picture and lowered the opacity so it was just visible,

merge your layers and save your tag and thats it sit back and admire your new tag:o) if you have any question you can e-mail me here and i will get back to you as soon as i can
